Getting started

Install Invoodu
Windows: run Invoodu-Setup-1.0.0.exe and follow the prompts.
Mac: one extra step first. macOS may refuse to open the installer (“can’t be opened” or “Apple could not verify”). Before you open it, run this once in Terminal:
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine ~/Downloads/Invoodu-Installer.pkgThen double-click the installer as normal. If your browser renamed the file (for example “Invoodu-Installer (1).pkg”), use that name in the command instead.

Sign in: everyone does, once
Click Sign in to Invoodu at the top right of the app, then Open invoodu.net. Log in with your email (we send a sign-in link; check your junk/spam folder if it doesn’t arrive in a minute or two). Click Connect app in the site’s menu, and type the 6-digit code into the app.
One account is signed in on one device at a time. Signing in somewhere new signs the old device out.

Start chatting
Check that Invoodu is chosen in the Source menu at the top left. That’s Invoodu’s own managed model, with nothing to set up. If it shows something else, click it and choose Invoodu. Prefer your own API key or a model running on your own machine? Pick that source in the same menu, or use the switch button just below Notes, and switch back whenever you like.

Running out of free messages
When the daily messages are used, Invoodu tells you right in the chat. Play the bonus round on invoodu.net for more, switch to your own key or a local model for unlimited use, or upgrade to Pro. Nothing opens by itself. You decide.

Invisible during calls & recordings (Pro)
The window never appears on the other side of a Zoom/Meet/Teams call, in a screen recording, or on a shared screen. Visible to you only, automatically.

Screenshots
Screenshot captures the full screen; Screenshot + Crop grabs a region. Either attaches straight into your conversation. On Pro, Invoodu stays out of its own screenshots, so it never blocks what you’re capturing.

Attach files
Open the ☰ menu (bottom left) and choose Attach file…. Pick one or several files; each shows as a chip you can remove, and Clear attachments removes them all. Invoodu reads text and code files, CSV, JSON, Markdown, PDF, Word (.docx) and Excel (.xlsx), and sends images as pictures, so use a model that can see images. Very long files are trimmed to about 20,000 characters. Old .doc and .xls files, and scanned PDFs with no selectable text, can’t be read, and Invoodu tells you when a file couldn’t be included.

Voice-to-text
Click the mic to transcribe your own voice and/or “the other side” of a call. Transcribed on-device, so audio never leaves your machine. The arrow beside the mic lets you choose where the text goes (the message box, Notes, or both), the audio source, and the transcription quality.

A separate scratchpad next to your chats. Just start typing; it autosaves.

Staying out of the way
Always on top keeps the window above everything else. On Mac, Don’t steal focus keeps keyboard focus on whatever app you were using when the window appears. On Windows, Show in taskbar gives Invoodu a normal taskbar button (off by default, so it stays tray-only).

☰ menu → Change app icon… swaps the Dock icon, and Invoodu remembers it next time. Windows uses one icon for both the title bar and the taskbar, so this isn’t available there yet.

How it works

Pick a provider and create an account
Use any of the links below. Most providers ask you to add a payment method or a little credit before a key will work.

Create an API key
Look for “API keys” and click create. Copy the key straight away, because most providers only show it once. Treat it like a password.

Paste it into Invoodu
In the app, click Switch to your own API key (left side, below Notes), choose the provider, and paste the key. Switch back to Invoodu managed access any time.
Where to get one
No key at all?
Run a model on your own computer with LM Studio or Ollama. No account, no key, no cap, and your prompts never leave your machine. Start the local server, then pick it as the source in Invoodu.
Providers change their sign-up pages from time to time. If a link has moved, searching the provider’s name plus “API key” will find the current page.
Tip
Keep your key private
Never share a key or post it publicly. If one leaks, delete it in your provider’s dashboard and create a new one. It takes a minute.
